You can ignore this post. I’m testing the cross-posting feature to make sure it’s still working. :)

Huushiita

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

Everyone please take a moment to welcome Huushiita to the team of people who are working to bring prompts and writing exercises to NaNoLJers. Huushi has been a member of our community for at least a couple of years now and recently responded to my call for helpers to provide inspiring content for our members throughout the year. She will be providing prompts on Wednesdays. There won’t be a particular theme to her exercises/prompts, at least for the first little while as she settles in and gets comfortable, but I think we can all look forward to her ecclectic contributions.

Welcome aboard Huushiita, and thank you very much.

First Lines

Saturday, February 19th, 2011

Amber had a great writing exercise a couple days ago that inspired members of our community to write some great first lines. With their permission I’m going to be stealing them and posting, one at a time on Tuesdays for the next little while. This is your chance to contribute :)

Leave a comment here with a starting line for a story/poem/whatever and I will use it in the Tuesday starter lines. This post will be linked to from future NaNoLJers posts so please, whenever you’re feeling inspired, pop by and leave us some starter lines to play with :)

Prompt People

Thursday, January 13th, 2011

I put out a call a couple weeks ago to see if the people who had been helping me out with writing exercises and prompts here at NaNoLJers prior to November wanted to keep it up, and it looks like there will be a few positions opening up.

Firstly I’d like to thank those of you who helped out over 2010, I really appreciate it. I know how draining it can be to do exercises and prompts every week (that’s why I reached out for help in the first place) and you all did wonderful jobs that undoubtedly inspired a lot of great work. It’s an unfortunate thing that most of us (for various good reasons) don’t share our results on this community, but please do believe that there were results and many beautiful things were written that might not have been without your intervention. You rock. Thank you :)

Secondly, I’ll be looking for people who want to provide writing-related prompts and exercises to the NaNoLJers community on a weekly basis. Last year I sort of assigned general-type topics and days, but this year I want to open it up. Do you have what you think is a great idea for a weekly spot on this community? Are you willing to be the person responsible for it? If so email me at rhonda@jofigure.com and tell me all about it. I’ll be accepting emails until the end of the month at which point I will have set up the new inspiration-providers with access to the Poise and Pen blog (which mirrors to the LJ community and allows for post scheduling) and will make an announcement of what this community can expect for the next year by way of prompts, exercises and interaction.

Changes :)

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

This post is meant to serve two purposes. Firstly, I’m testing to make sure the crossposting with this account works and secondly, I’m introducing you all to this new account.

Meet PoiseAndPen.

As you may know we mirror our writing exercises to a WordPress blog at PoiseAndPen.com. There are a couple reasons for this but the main one is that I want a back up. Just in case. You know how it goes.

We ran into a tricky problem because unless everyone has administrator access to the blog they couldn’t change the account that our entries posted under, so the solution is this. One umbrella account that we can all post under. We’ll each be signing our posts so that you know who to credit or blame for them, but you’ll be seeing this name a lot in the coming weeks.

P.S. If you post exercises and haven’t received an email from me about this or login information for PoiseAndPen it’s because you never got back to me when I asked if you were willing to mirror your content. If you’d rather not that’s cool, but if you would like to and just missed my question in the original email I sent you drop me a line and we’ll fix the situation.

Wheee! :)

Out of Town

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

I am out of town (and offline) all of next week, and while Word Press would let me schedule posts ahead of time, there are issues with cross-posting them to LJ via my plugin. So, I won’t be posting any exercises next week. Just so you know.

See you when I get back :)
