Book 1.5 is actually a short story. It takes place a couple weeks after the events of One in the Hand, right before Christmas. One of Autumn’s dogs is accidentally(?) abducted by an antlered woman who just appears in the park one night, and Autumn needs to get him back. Unfortunately, that will require dealing with her least favourite frost giant, Ms. DeBall.
Book 2 happens several more weeks after “Two Loyal Dogs (And a Hornhead in an Apple Tree)”. It’s a new year — 2020! — and Autumn is trying to navigate her emotions and a bunch of life changes at the same time. Then she needs to make a huge sacrifice in order to save a friend, fulfill a quest given to her by a dwarf and figure out how a human kid can see her wings. It’s a journey of self-discovery that also reveals more secrets about the world and her family.
